| 2007 Subaru WRX TR Sedan Review
The Subaru WRX, the original rally car for the road, got the first major changes of its American-market career, for the 2006 model year. If the new-look nose restyling was the most apparent change, the most significant revisions were under the aluminum hood. The original 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled boxer four was replaced by the detuned version of the 2.5-liter STi engine used in the Forester XT. With 230 horsepower it would seem little different from the 2.0-liter engine's 227, but there was a significant increase in torque, from 217 to 235 lb-ft. To complement the improved power output, plus-one tires, 17- instead of 16-inch, wider and lower in profile, were fitted, and suspension, brake and airbag systems were upgraded. And the WRX lineup grew, with the introduction of two additional trim levels, the TR, for the sedan body style only, and the Limited for both the sedan and wagon.

Deal signed for Perkins plant
After four months of deliberation, Delphi Corp. has chosen a potential buyer. Delphi Corp. entered into a $44.2 million asset sale and purchase agreement Wednesday with Cleveland-based Resilience Capital Partners for the sale of its wheel bearings business. There are a few more hurdles to clear before closing the sale with Resilience Capital Partners. Delphi Corp. filed a motion at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to request a bidding procedures hearing on Jan. 25. The bidding procedures hearing will allow other businesses interested in acquiring the plant a chance to outbid Resilience Capital Partners. If no other company bids on the property, a final sale hearing will be set sometime in the first quarter.
Air conditioning unit sparks hotel fire
A heating and air conditioning unit sparked a fire Wednesday at a North Myrtle Beach hotel, said city public information officer, Nicole Aiello. The fire occurred around 9:51 a.m. at Peppertree by the Sea, 305 South Ocean Blvd. Two people were treated for injuries on the scene, and one was transported to Seacoast Medical Center. HORRY COUNTY Fire victim died of smoke inhalation, burns An autopsy performed Wednesday determined that smoke inhalation and severe burns killed a man who died in a fire at his office late Monday, Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said. The fire occurred in a building in the 4000 block of West U.S. 501. The victim's name is being withheld until his family, believed to live in Guatemala, is notified, Hendrick said.
