Many of these long-lived wonders have been restored to their original appearance with textbook accuracy. You can stop at just about any point along this winding road and find a house with historic past worthy of conversation. Unless, of course, you stop in front of my house. Now, if you're working on some kind of obscure doctoral thesis on classic 1960s Cape design, you might find a wealth of worthwhile information within my four walls. The use of knotty pine in just about any vertical application, say, or the evolution of speckles in vinyl tile flooring - 1965 through 1967. Otherwise, the 1,300-sq.-ft. structure that I call home is just another shingled Cape. It would fit comfortably in many aging suburban developments throughout the Northeast, but, instead, it's been plopped down in the middle of the country's longest continuous registered historic district.
Law would ban serving obese diners
Lawmakers don't need to protect non-smokers from smokers...non-smokers can leave the establishments that allow smoking. Of course the cry baby non-smokers don't want any restrictions, but they want to place them on everyone else. You act like you can get cancer if you only go to non-smoking establishments. Why take it out of the hands of the restaurant owner?? Because non-smokers are babies that want everything and won't give up anything. " .
Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!
Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2. “Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better." Ddot the King hit me with that. Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this: “Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2." LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.
Challenges for Netflix 2.0
Users sign up for the service online, pay a flat monthly fee, order DVDs from Netflix's extensive online catalog, and receive them via snail mail. Finished DVDs are mailed back to Netflix shipping facilities scattered across the country, using the same mailers. There are no contracts, no late fees, and no postage charges for users. Netflix shook up the brick-and-mortar rental chains when it appeared on the scene, but it took the company almost five years to turn a profit. Since then, the home entertainment landscape has changed drastically. Netflix did well by riding on the success of the DVD format, but new high-definition formats and distribution methods have upped the ante. On one side, Netflix has to deal with the transition to high-definition physical media such as Blu-ray, and on the other, the encroaching threat of online rental and delivery systems like iTunes.
Volcanic gas crimps Crater Rim Drive
HILO » Dangerously high levels of sulfur dioxide gas in a small but popular area of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park have officials warning visitors to stay in their cars with their air conditioner on re-circulation and to just drive through that area. The main area affected is a 5-mile stretch of Crater Rim Drive on the downwind, south side of Kilauea caldera. That means no stopping at a popular parking area at the beginning of a short path to Halemaumau Crater overlook. "Area closed due to dangerous volcanic gas. Stay in your car!" yellow-and-black warning signs say. The greatest danger is to babies and children, pregnant women and people with asthma or heart conditions, said spokeswoman Mardie Lane. AC on cold morning leads to Estates grow-house bust
An air conditioner that was in use on an unusually cold morning helped lead investigators to a suspected marijuana grow house operation in Golden Gate Estates. Delfin H. Puentes, 39, of Fort Myers, was arrested Thursday and charged with marijuana trafficking -- more than 25 pounds -- and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Reports say Puentes operated a marijuana grow house at 1781 8th Ave. N.E. Earlier this month a deputy on patrol noticed that an air conditioning unit was in use at the house on a cold morning. As the deputy approached the residence, he could smell the odor of growing marijuana. The house appeared to be vacant at the time. Around 10 a.m. Thursday, a blue Nissan Pathfinder driven by Puentes left the house, traveling 51 mph on Eighth Avenue Northeast, where the posted speed is 35 mph.
